Brangelina, TomKat...and Rulu?

I'm sure everyone remembers when Brad Pitt left Jennifer Aniston after falling in love with Angelina Jolie on the set of Mr and Mrs. Smith. Team Aniston for sure, and I think we know who Rory would have supported, but, without her misfortune, Brangelina and the invention of celebrity names might never have come to be. To be honest, I think at this point most everyone has forgotten how Brangelina, the couple themselves, came to be, but this isn't a celebrity blog, so...

TomKat immediately makes me think of Tom Cruise jumping on Oprah's couch over his new love, Katie Holmes. I forgot about Gigli pretty quickly, but who could forget Bennifer? Or Jennifer Lopez's Jenny from the Block video prominently featuring her larger-than-life relationship with Ben Affleck. The Bennifer nickname is still fitting since Ben Affleck ended up marrying Jennifer Garner. I do remember hearing the name Bennifer II for awhile, but it didn't really stick, and I think Bennifer now frequently refers to Jennifer Garner.

Spederline, or Britney Spears and Kevin Federline, didn't last long. The nickname or the couple. But KFed and subsequently KFat did (VH1's Celebrity Fit Club or not).

Naturally, I decided it was very important for my girls to have a fabulous celebrity couple nickname, especially since once they become the next big thing I'm pretty sure they'll have substantial staying power, and I would hate for them to be stuck with an awful celebrity couple nickname. Though their pairing is not romantic, they would be attached at the hip if Lane had her way, and they are always together. I've previously explained where their names came from and all about their various nicknames, so there isn't much to say in that regard.

I didn't like Rane (Rory + Lane); I didn't like Lary (Lane + Rory); I didn't like Lory (Lane + Rory) since it just sounds like another girl's name; I just didn't think they had staying power. So, I decided to go with combining nicknames since I generally refer to them using their nicknames anyways, and I came up with Rulu (Roo + Lulu). It's fun, and it's different, not to mention it's so much easier to enunciate than Rory. Of course, just about anything is. Rulu has stuck for the past almost two years, so unless someone can come up with something better I think it's here to stay.

The funny thing is I never call them Rulu when I'm calling for both of them, but I speak and type it to my friends and family all the time. I guess it isn't that weird – I highly doubt Brangelina calls and makes dinner reservations for two (or eight if the kids are coming minus nannies) under Brangelina. Actually, I doubt they call for reservations themselves at all.

Brangelina:

Bennifer:

Bennifer II:

TomKat:

Spederline (and Bit Bit! It should go without saying, but PLEASE do not support pet stores and by default the puppymill industry):

Rulu:

See what I mean? It won't be long before Rulu is huge. The invastion of privacy is already maddening! The puparazzi must have used a super zoom lens to get this shot of the girls during their bath, especially since we live on the 14th floor.

Do your pups have a celebrity nickname? Have you ever thought about it?
