Be Still My Heart

Last night while I was fixing dinner for the girls and simultaneously trying to strategically avoid Lane's “pogoing” so she didn't sweep my legs and/or knock into the back of my legs exactly where my knees are causing me to come crashing to the ground (not that this has ever almost happened), I couldn't help but notice those sweet little faces looking up at me and noting one of the many things that I just love about them. The shape from their little black olive noses to the tips of their beards forms a heart. Rory's has been like this for as long as I can remember, but it seems the longer Lane's beard grows the less it resembles a heart.

It reminds me of one of my favorite quotations from Edith Wharton:

“My little dog - a heartbeat at my feet.”
